About the logo

If you've ridden in a truck in Maine, you've likely seen a Maine Atlas and Gazetteer at some point. These atlas' are a staple in Maine's outdoor industry, being the sole trusted navigational aid for years and years. While modern technology has replaced them in some peoples' day to day use, many still use them, not only for reliability and ease of use, but also for the traditional connection that they possess.

While brainstorming a logo, I knew one thing; I wanted to incorporate this style of map/topo lines. Knowing that my artistic and graphic design skills were not up to par for the task, it was an obvious choice to work with local artist and close friend, Derek Moore (Low Tide Lumber). Derek took my rough idea to turn a trout into a map, and dove headfirst into the project, even going so far as to work on it during his honeymoon! I couldn't be any happier with the way it came out and I truly think that it encompasses the essence of Native Maine Fly Fishing; tradition and exploration.
